This past Tuesday, November 6, 2018, was Election Day. Although there was not a presidential election this year, there were still many important positions and issues to vote on. This day has also been inspiration for many movies. Some of our favorites include:
Head of State (2003)- A presidential candidate dies unexpectedly in the middle of the campaign a few weeks before the election. When Mays Gillman becomes a hero for rescuing a woman and her cat, he is unexpectedly picked as his replacement.
Swing Vote (2008)- This comedy, drama tells of how in a remarkable turn of event, the results of the presidential election comes down to one man’s vote. Can clueless Bud with the help of his 5th grade daughter Molly and a local TV reporter, handle this responsibility?
I Voted? (2016)- This film mixes documentary, comedy, and history looking into the questions: How do you know your vote counts? What are the assurances of accuracy and security in American elections?
These are only a few of the great films that comment on elections and voting. Hopefully, you got the chance to make your way out to the polls this Tuesday and exercised your right to vote.
